Rebates and tax credits for home energy improvements are on the rise. A huge amount of legislation was either passed or renewed and improved.

Below you will find a list of national energy rebates and tax credits.

Solar PV Installation

Federal Tax Credit - 30% of the entire cost of the system.

Property must be placed in service before December 31, 2016.
The IRS defines placed in service as when it is ready for use.

Use IRS Form 5695

Solar Hot Water Heater

Federal Tax Credit - 30% of cost of system.

Property must be placed in service before December 31, 2016. The IRS defines "placed in service" as when it is ready for use.

Swimming pool and hot tub heating do not qualify for the credit.

The system must be certified by the Solar Rating Certification Corporation (SRCC).

Use IRS form 5695.

Windows & Doors

Federal Tax Credit - 30% of cost up to $ 1,500.

Not all energy star rated windows and doors qualify.

Visit the energy star website to find qualifying products.

Insulation

Federal Tax Credit - 30% of cost up to $ 1,500.

To qualify the primary purpose of the insulation should be to insulate.

Must be expected to last 5 years or have a two-year warranty.

Small Residential Wind Turbines

Federal Tax Credit - 30% of the entire cost of the system.

Property must be placed in service before December 31, 2016.
The IRS defines placed in service as when it is ready for use.

Metal & Asphalt Roofing

Federal tax credit - 30% of total cost up to $ 1,500.

Must be expected to last up to 5 years, or have a two-year warranty.
